Jim Myers has practiced law with this
firm since 1975. Jim practices in the area of estate planning, preparing
wills, trusts, powers of attorney and medical directives for clients. The
National Association of Estate Planning Councils has designated Jim as a
certified estate planner, one of only five attorneys in South Dakota to have
that distinction.
He also handles probates of estates
and assists in the creation and administration of trusts, guardianships,
and conservatorships. Other areas of law in which he works are real estate,
elder law, and business matters. Jim is a member of the Real Property, Probate
and Trust Section of the South Dakota State Bar and served on its Board of
Directors. He also served on the Board of Directors of the Sioux Falls Estate
Planning Council and as an officer of the Second Judicial Circuit Bar
Association.
Jim is a native of Sioux Falls, where
he graduated from O’Gorman High School in 1968. He attended Creighton
University and received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of
South Dakota in 1972 and his Juris Doctorate from USD in 1975.
Jim and his wife Patty have three daughters,
a son and two adorable grandchildren.
